Chip Brooker

Lead Trial Lawyer & Chief Storyteller

About

Chip Brooker

Chip Brooker is a trial lawyer and persuasive storyteller who tries wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury cases nationwide.

He is repeatedly recognized in The Best Lawyers in America, Texas Super Lawyers, and D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas. Super Lawyers has named him one of the Top 100 Dallas–Fort Worth Super Lawyers. Lawdragon has listed him among the Top 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers in the country, and U.S. News & World Report ranks Brooker Law in Tier 1 for plaintiff’s personal injury litigation in North Texas.

In 2018, The National Law Journal and The National Trial Lawyers named Chip to their Products Liability Trial Team of the Year for a $242.1 million verdict against a major automobile manufacturer after defective seat backs and seat belts caused severe traumatic brain injuries to two children.

Chip also helped secure a $10.9 million wrongful death verdict in Dallas County for the families of two victims killed when a charter bus rolled over en route to the Choctaw Casino in Durant, Oklahoma; obtained a $7.26 million wrongful death verdict in Texas state court after a tractor-trailer crashed into stopped traffic; and served as an integral member of the trial team that won a $13 million judgment in a complex, high-stakes civil racketeering case following a four-week federal bench trial.

Because of his courtroom success, Chip is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an invitation-only organization that demands the highest standards of civility, professionalism, and trial skill.

Chip’s litigation style blends relentless preparation with an unwavering commitment to justice. His dedication to clients, legal judgment, and storytelling ability make him a formidable trial lawyer that defense attorneys and insurance companies respect. He is also known as a relentless cross-examiner. As one juror stated after rendering a verdict for Chip’s client, “I wasn’t sure if I’d rather have a root canal or get cross-examined by Mr. Brooker. He was very prepared.” (Texas Lawbook, Why the Jurors Say They Awarded the Reavis Family $242M, Aug. 20, 2018).

He also brings deep empathy to every case. Chip grew up as the son of a disabled father—Gene, a paraplegic who used a wheelchair throughout Chip’s life. More than other lawyers, Chip knows what it is like for his clients to live with a disability. Chip knows what it is like to be a caregiver for a disabled family member. He understands the daily struggles—large and small—that his clients face, and as a result, he is uniquely equipped to tell their stories.
